Using suggestion values and how to upgrade
Even if key users (department users/application support) do not have to develop their own authorization objects and cooperation with SAP Basis is always advantageous, there are often technical questions such as "Which users have authorization to evaluate a specific cost center or internal order?
If you manage your SAP system landscape via the Central User Administration (ZBV), you must insert SAP Note 1663177 into both the ZBV system and all attached subsidiary systems. In this case, also note that the default user group will be assigned in the daughter systems if no user group has been distributed during the user's installation from the ZBV. In addition, you will receive an error message in the SCUL transaction stating that a user group must be assigned to the user (via the ZBV headquarters). This behaviour is independent of the settings of the distribution parameters for the user group in the SCUM transaction. If you have set the distribution parameters for the user group to Global or Redistribution, the appropriate subsidiary system will reject the changes made to users that do not have a user group in the Central System, and you will receive an error message in the SCUL transaction.

Tax reporting: The tax reporting system in SAP is based on the accounting area. The Profit Centre is not intended as a reporting unit here.

Do you also work in a complex system landscape where roles are decentralised? Then, inconsistencies can occur by transporting profiles from different systems to a target system. We'll show you how to prevent that. In the case of decentralised maintenance of eligibility roles, i.e. maintenance of roles in different systems or clients, there is a risk that the number sequences for the generation of eligibility profiles overlap. You can then generate profiles with the same name for different roles in different clients. As soon as you transport these eponymous permission profiles into a common target system, the profile will be overwritten by the newly imported profile and inconsistencies will arise. As a result, you may, for example, assign an ERP Permissions Role an SCM permission profile. This may result in a user assigned the ERP role not obtaining the required permissions or even too many permissions. You also have a problem if you want to use the permission profile to determine the source system and the client in which this profile was generated. This is not possible if the first and third characters of the SAP System ID (SID) and the number sequence for generating the permission profile match.

Are you already using BAPIs in user care? For example, you can use them to set up a password reset self service. We show you how to do this and what you need to pay attention to. Especially with large system landscapes and systems that are only sporadically used, users often forget their password. Strengthened password rules (e.g. to change a password regularly or to require certain character types to be used), which are supposed to serve security, do their part. Forgotten passwords and the frequently resulting user locks are unfortunately often lost to the user when access to a system is most needed. Unlocking a user and assigning a new password is rarely done in real time, even with large 24-hour support service departments. This problem, which I am sure you are familiar with, does not exactly promote employee satisfaction and productivity. A self-service that uses the Business Application Programming Interfaces (BAPIs) can counteract this.

Authorizations can also be assigned via "Shortcut for SAP systems".

You can choose the supplied SAMPLE_INTERFACE_00001650 as the template.

You can see this call in your System Trace for Permissions in the Additional Information column for testing.
