SAP upgrade: Before a very extensive SAP upgrade, you may want to test the run and analyze any errors that occur, especially if the development and test systems are not allowed to be down for too long. In that case, it's best to do this on a system copy.
Suitable tools make it possible to automate and accelerate the necessary creation of true-to-original SAP system copies, for example. This means that you have all production data available on your test system in a short time.

Preparation before system copy - All information about transport requests that should be re-imported on the target system of the system copy is evaluated and collected: Already released transport requests that have not yet landed on production. Open transport requests that should survive the system copy (maintain development status). The respective owners of the transports have the possibility to discard an obsolete development.
The solution described in this document can be summarized as follows: The goal is to create a homogeneous copy of an SAP system. The source of the system copy is a production system. The target of the system copy is an existing non-production system. The focus is on a specific use case, a system copy created for updates. Backup and restore are performed at the SAN device level and supported by HP System Copy software. Pre- and post-processing is automated using the UC4 Automated System Copy for SAP solution. Thus, the proposed solution allows you to optimize the automation and acceleration of SAP system copies generated for upgrades and reduce IT administration costs. Automated, fast and powerful upgrade capabilities enable shorter and more flexible SAP software lifecycles, enabling more agile business processes.
