For some time now, SAP customers have been supported in system copying by very powerful automation tools that can be used as needed. In addition to this area of activity, additional automation tools are also available, for example up to the creation of sandboxes, which provide valuable services.
By using the automation solution, errors that typically occur with manual process steps - just like additional costs due to repetition - can be avoided. To date, the IT team has created 88 SAP system copies. "If we had wanted to do this with SAP board resources, we would not have been able to pay for it as a medium-sized company," Rudi Scharf knows.

Landscape copies refer to the update of not only one but a whole group of systems. This is the case when dependencies of the source systems are also to be mapped in the target environments. Similar to the simple system copy, the landscape copy also offers potential for automation, but this cannot be implemented by every tool on the market.
SAP software plays a central role in the IT landscape of Rehau, a provider of polymer-based solutions for construction, automotive and industry. If you have used "Shortcut for SAP Systems" to save system-specific tables before the system refresh, several manual steps can be omitted - the data can be restored by restoring the data saved before the system copy.
Database: For some databases (MS SQL Server) there is the possibility to copy the database files and reattach them on the target system.
In Release 6.40 and 7.00 the 'NetWeaver 2007 Strategy' can be implemented with manual configuration.
